Welcome to Prayer: Communication with God
For many years I worked with the public. Many times we have gotten on the subject of prayer. Far too often I have heard things like, “I don’t know how to pray.” “I hear members of my congregation pray, but I do not know how to pray like they do.” My advice, Talk to God just like you talk to me. It doesn’t have to be flowery or churchy prayer…God likes SIMPLE!
I knew several years ago that my calling in life is intercession, standing in the gap for others. What I didn’t know was that this meant more than me taking things to God in prayer for them. As I sat at my mother in law’s home three states away, unplugged from my computer, little cell phone service, and just a quiet moment with God, He impressed upon me that I was to do more. “More?” I questioned. “What do you mean more? What else can I, a stay at home, homeschooling mother, and wife do? I am one individual…what can I do to change the world.” His reply, “Blog!”
So, here I am. In obedience to God and leaning totally on Him, I am here to blog. The purpose of this site is to look at prayer in Scripture. I have read through the Scriptures many times. I have read the prayers of Abraham and Moses and all of them, but never before have I digested their prayer or considered how their prayers could affect my life or life of others.
Who is the Author of Prayer: Communication with God
I am…child of God, keeper of the commandments who has the testimony of Yeshua, wife, mother, zoo keeper to two kitties, five dogs, and a chinchilla, friend, teacher to the children I home school, and author of this blog. I am human. I make mistakes but try to learn from them. My motto on a mistake is this: The first time you do it, it’s a mistake. The second time you do it, it’s a CHOICE! I am also a student of Yeshua. I seek His instructions and try to make the changes necessary to apply them to my life. I am learning to be less judgmental and more forgiving. And, I have learned that in order to truly “Love your neighbor as yourself,” you must first LOVE YOURSELF.
Purpose of this Blog
As I stated earlier, I set up this blog in obedience to what I felt God was instructing me to do. It is a journey that I hope many will take with me. A trip through Scripture exploring the prayers of those who have carved the way for us. This site is set up to be an encouragement to all who visit it. I welcome and encourage your comments and feedback. I learn through you! I do not claim to know all. My desire is be as Abraham’s wife, Sarah, an empty vessel which God can use, and empty vessel being filled with His joy! Without you, the readers of this blog, I am no one, because you are my teachers. I believe God places people in our lives and I am interested in what you have to say. If you do not understand something I have written, or if you have more insight into what I have written, PLEASE share it with me! May you ever be blessed here! Also, if you have a need that you would like me to pray with you about, please contact me!
